LANGUAGE PSYCHOLOGY - Presupposition and Echo Technique

                             VERBAL HYPNOSIS

The way we speak, converse, write or express ourselves; all fall under the category of language psychology in this section. This time I'm not taking into consideration just the body language but I'm emphasizing on verbal or written language and how to produce it in front of an audience in order to get them hooked or causing speed attraction. I'm going to talk about the two main and the easiest techniques in this part of the blog and soon go into more details in my upcoming blogs.

Let me try explaining to you something in two different ways:

1.  I walked into a dark room. The wind rushed in through the open, creaking windows as the light curtains rapidly fluttered.

2.  I walked into a room which was dark. The wind rushed in through the windows which creaked and were left open as the curtains fluttered rapidly due to their lightness.

Which of the following was easier for you to picture and got you more engrossed in it? The first one right?
Guess, why. This is because in the first explanation the descriptors of the subject that has to described was put before the subject itself. This is how presupposition works.

Presuppositions are assumptions that your neurology has to make just to understand the communication we are getting. If you describe the subject after the mention of it then your mind has to go back to edit the general picture of the subject it has already created in the head. So basically, put the descriptors before what it describes. This way it eliminates cognitive friction. It forces a person's internal mind movies to be exactly what you describe. Everything that follows that descriptor, the neurology processes as if it's true. And it doesn't want to back up and then analyze the picture because it doesn't want to break the flow of an area.

The echo technique is simply using as much as a person's very own words and as close to the order you heard them in as you can during an organic conversation. this can be then used as a base to either ask questions or ask for clarification or describe your own experiences within their words. When you start to plug in these descriptors while using the echo technique, you magnify the effect.

The thing about narrative that we need to understand is that it is never perceived as an attempt to persuade or influence. It changes people's beliefs, attitudes and behaviors in the background and because it creates such a powerful and pleasant trance process in people; they don't want to argue even if you're giving them inaccurate information. More often than not they will remain quiet until the story is done and by the time it's done, they will have forgotten what they were arguing about, in most cases.
